Many people who want to engage in photography encounter a very hard decision making – and that is… “What is the best digital camera to buy?” Before you can answer this very first question, you should at least know what kind of camera you are looking for since there are categories of cameras available.
Digital camera itself is a very wide topic. It is composed of categories – ultra compact, compact, creative compact, SLR-like, and SLR.
Ultra compact digital cameras are relatively small but has almost the same image quality with a normal DSLR. The best thing is that it can just be placed in your pockets but its capabilities extend to a greater horizon. There are plenty of ultra compact cameras that are very affordable but the first on the list is the Canon SD850. It has more features than any other ultra compact cameras. It has advanced 8.0 megapixels with 4x optical zoom, optical image stabilizer (good for long zoom shots), has improved face-detection properties and red-eye correction, creative light effects, has 18 shooting modes and 11 special scene modes. If you are fond of taking pictures of almost about anything, then this camera suits you best.
Review – outstanding photo quality especially in light conditions but slightly expensive.
Second on the list is the Casio Exilim EX-Z1080. It has good photo quality. If you are tired of learning what these new buttons do, then this camera is for you since this camera is user-friendly and has minimal buttons to take care of. What’s so unique about this is that it has YouTube and Ebay modes where you get to automatically change the file format, ready to upload to these services. However, it has less optimal photo quality, and only 3x optical zoom. It has 10.0 mp. You can choose from various stylish colors.
Review – has long battery life and wide choices of stylistic colors.
Third is the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX500. This camera has 10 mp and has very good photo quality. What’s good about this is that it has wide angle lens. If you want to zoom in, it can reach up to 5x zoom. Moreover, if you take lots of videos, then you can rely on this camera since it has incredible video quality. However, image quality even if very good, does not reach the best standards.
Review – wide-angle lens (good for landscape)
Fourth on the list is the Pentax Optio S10. This camera has extremely good photo quality. It has light-weighted and very small which can help you bring this camera everywhere at almost all time. This is the cheapest camera in the group. It is best for video taking since it has high quality and not pixelated when zoomed in. However, it has only 3x optical zoom and short battery life – not good for adventure and stuff.
Review – weighs very light and as small as a credit card, cheap but has short battery life
Last on the list is the Sony DSC T300. It has average photo quality. You can really clearly see your viewfinder because it has wide and large screen. Thus, making it very friendly for photographer with eye problems. However, its photo quality is only average and requires a specific memory card made solely for Sony – meaning, you couldn’t use any other ordinary memory cards.
Review – has large screen but does not produce really good photos – meaning, photos are just okay.
At the end of the day, it would just really depend on what type of photography you are planning to engage in. These cameras have their own pros and cons so it’s still up to you to decide.
